For the record, I was lying. We were plotting something.

And all the things we were plotting are now coming to fruition.

So, for the record, this was the day we had lunch with the BBC and it became apparent that we really were going to make Good Omens. At that point, we were still looking for a writer. It would be six months before Terry told me that I had to do it and we decided that the writer had been found.

John Mulaney voice: It was even weirder, though, when I went out for the night with some money, black out, and wake up with more money, because that means that I earned money. That means that I traded goods and/or services. Which is scary.

So I’m not the only person who finds this really creepy right?

angelofgrace96

God, how can you expect someone to act to the best of their ability when they don’t even know what they’re acting? Jesus.

sherlock-is-ace

this is so incredibly disrespectful of the actors? like what the hell, they’re people, they’re working, this is their job! They can’t just be treated like this?! what the hell! How are they supposed to create a character and show emotion and react properly to things they don’t even know?

this is inhuman... i mean it! i can't believe this behaviour has arrived to hollywood like i know hollywood is fucked up but i always thought they at least were better than this... even for money's sake jesus christ! angel talks

space-mortician

Its transphobic on the surface (three men figuring out if she’s a man or not, “confused boners”) but for the time it’s pretty progressive:

  • Davina is not ashamed of her trans-ness, and even makes jokes about it that aren’t self deprecating. She never once mentions surgeries or talks about being complete. Yes she’s having bottom surgery but she’s okay with her body pre-bs as well (shown in the bollocks joke at the end, which she also makes herself)
  • She’s open with her sexuality, especially her attraction towards men
  • The main character of the show (a COMEDY show) refused to take part in transphobic jokes, treated her with respect, called her “doll,” and kissed her cheek without hesitation (which is AMAZING in itself bc he couldve easily been disgusted and not want to be near her which was acceptable at that time). Mind he does all of this despite any prejudice he might have, bc he didnt want to give the guys the “satisfaction”
space-mortician

Tumblr fucked up my post so I’m adding the rest of my analysis:

  • The guys looked to the main character’s reaction to see if they’re good to make fun of her, but when they see he doesnt make any comments about her, they stop making jokes about her body
  • They’re also aware that they’re sexist pricks in trying to decide whether or not they can hit on her
  • The person who tells the guys she’s trans is a psychologist and 1) he doesnt say that she’s sick (being trans was still considered an illness at the time) and actually helped her accept herself and live openly as a woman 2) explained was being trans was in a clear and casual manner to dispel any belief that this was a weird thing to be scared of
  • She obviously loves taking the piss out of cis men and their fragile masculinity, and definitely took an opportunity to give a skeevy douche a good surprise (that scene at the end didnt feel like a “trans woman is a predator to men” thing, moreso flipped on its head: she’s not into him, but after her deflections and his insistence on hitting on her, she decides to have fun with it and give him exactly what he wants. Theres no shame when he finds out and she has a good laugh when he runs away)

It’s not the best but it’s a decent attempt at humanizing trans women for the time (it’s definitely better than the shit I’ve seen on shows like Two and A Half Men and Big Bang Theory), plus Davina’s hot and I love her
