Bookask. Nr. 30 as requested by @kreativatanten Thanks dear!

My favorite author: Terry Pratchett.

Many many years ago my world was dark and the future hopeless. My caseworker recommended his work to me. Of course I loved fantasy, lotr had introduced me to those wonders. But this, this was quite something else. It was funny, deep, it offered me insights on all kinds of things I'd taken for granted or had never really considered. I read everything the library had to offer and then discovered there was a lot of his work that hadn't been translated yet. So I picked up my first novel in English. One has only have to take one look at my personal library to see how that worked out for me..

Anyhow, social unjustice was a recurring topic and there was the catalyst for my careerswitch. His work gave me joy, hope, a future.

And here I am, 15 years later.

I'm happy, I'm furious at falsehood. I'm trying to make the world a better place. And living by the principles of a man who is not dead, his name is still spoken.

I read the manga version of All You Need Is Kill & it was pretty obnoxiously sexist throughout. I don’t know what the novel’s equivalent to “fanservice” is, though.

Here’s the line that made me toss the book aside:

She had healthy, tanned skin and larger than average breasts. Her waist was narrow. Of the three types of women the human race boasted – the pretty, the homely, and the gorillas you couldn’t do anything with save ship ‘em off to the army – I’d put her in the pretty category without batting an eye.

*disappointed wanking motion*

it goes off the rails in slo-mo Anonymous like the second he mentions her breasts you know something bad is coming and you hope you're wrong but you just know you're right AND WHOOPS
