“[So-called] Mild autism doesn’t mean one experiences autism mildly. It means you experience their autism mildly. You may not know how hard they’ve had to work to get to the level they are.” - Adam Walton
Sometimes it doesn’t even mean that - it just means that the symptom set they ended up with is less inconvienent to other people, or that their difficulties are being attributed to laziness or “being difficult” rather than autism.

“I had an offer to do a movie I was excited about, but then I got this offer, a direct offer, to play Beatrice,” Brooks said, discussing her role as one of the two sparring lovers in the Public Theater’s forthcoming production of Much Ado About Nothing. “I started thinking, What do I want? What would I be proud of on my résumé? and for me Beatrice was that.”
Beatrice has more often been played by thin white women (Emma Thompson on film, Lily Rabe recently in the park), and Brooks would be the first black Beatrice she had ever seen onstage, as well as the first black Beatrice to play the Delacorte Theater. “To me, getting to play this part is opening doors to young black women that look like me or even relate to me,” Brooks said, “so that was a no-brainer.”

I also love the Master and the Master/Doctor dynamic so here you go!!
(full disclosure: I’ve only seen Simm! and Gomez!Master)
- Not a HC exactly but I love the concept of the Doctor and the Master being two sides of the same coin. I’m not sure what
ClassicWho tells us about how they grew up but I think a lot about everything
that could have happened to put them on different paths - The Master spends a lot of time on Earth. Actively plotting destruction/world domination, etc but also just trying to figure out why THIS planet, in the whole universe, is the one the Doctor always comes back to
- The Master likes to cause small petty issues everywhere they go, for the .2 seconds of amusement it gives them. Like a naughty cat pushing stuff off a table. (Or like a certain someone from Good Omens)
- The Master meeting River and trading embarrassing stories about the Doctor (the Master has stories from when they were on Gallifrey and River knows all about 11 so they fill in each other’s ‘Doctor blind spots’). They just absolutely drag him, then probably try to incapacitate each other. /Repeat across time and space
- I know there’s conflicting opinions about RTD introducing The Drums but I like the HC that Missy either doesn’t hear the
drums (something to do with causing their own regeneration?) or that she hears them less, which helps shape her character arc - How long was Missy watching Clara before she chose her for the Doctor? It had to be a while, right?? I
lowkeyship
Missy/Clara and I like to think they met up again whilst Clara was traveling
the world as a semi-immortal(?) - Also, there’s…this…which I guess counts as a headcanon (sorry)

Did you do a voiceover for an Apple commercial? If not, someone sounds an awful lot like you.
Kind of. They used (with permission) an extract from my Make Good Art graduation speech from 2012.
Me: Hey.
Psych attending: Oh hello, how can I help you?
Me: So I have this patient here who has an affective disorder, a personality disorder, and a whole bunch of self-destructive behavioural issues.
Psych attending: Uh-huh.
Me: Went kind of AWOL after the last meeting here. Threw away all their meds with no explanation. And that was months ago.
Psych attending: Oh dear.
Me: The person sitting in my office studies full time, has a job on the side, is in a healthy long term relationship, and already has a solid plan for everything they wanted to bring up with me.
Psych attending:
Me: I’m just here to ask how I should fill in this form.
Psych attending: That’s marvelous!
Me: I KNOW I NEEDED TO TELL SOMEONE
