Did I just find an escape pod crashed upon the distant shore I have been living upon? (like a lonely asteroid or moon where Dr Bashir is the sole occupant of a “light house” that serves to warn passing ships of a near by navigation hazard and should the need arise provide emergency services)
Just plain and simple Garak the young Cardassian… gardener whose only knowledge of humans are the rumors that paint them as ferocious indestructible space orcs.
Then they part ways, time passes.
Situations arise where Dr Julian Bashir finds himself in some place called Empok Nor/Deep Space 9 depending on who you ask. They are in need of a qualified doctor. Being an augmented human isn’t a problem because they have a shape shifter for a chief of security.
And they have a familiar looking Cardassian tailor who swears he has never seen Dr Bashir before.
Eventually we find out that Garak has been left behind on the station to protect him mostly from Enabrin Tain’s enemies who might connect the two as father and son, but Garak doesn’t know they’re related.
Time line wise from Stitch in Time this Garak could have been to the Romulan empire etc but was pulled off the mission involving Gul Dukat’s family so their past together is…
As time goes on and the Dominion War gets closer and closer more and more pieces fall together about Garak still being a spy.
Dr Bashir would still be a space slut engaging with anyone who consents.
