Sorry if this has been asked already, but whose decision was Gabriel's F-bomb? I understand Crowley's, because he was about to come face to face with Satan. And obviously Aziraphale's had to be in there cuz it was one of the greatest moments in the book. But Gabriel's seemed unnecessary (don't get me wrong, I adored that moment, because Gabriel just seemed so cheerful all the time, and hearing John Hamm say it was 👌). I was just wondering the reasoning behind it and whose idea it was.

neil-gaiman answered:

Mine. I was the writer.

Ok, I guess "unnecessary" wasn't the right word, since everyone now thinks I'm a prude who doesn't like the word "fuck" lol. I'm simply fascinated with Gabriel as a character and I would like to know how that decision was made concerning his character. What I meant by the question was, since the "I'm the archangel fucking Gabriel" line was not in the script book, was the sudden outburst of very unangelic language something that was discussed with John, like on set, or at a table read, and what about Gabriel's character inspired the addition. That's what I meant.

It’s definitely in the script book, and was just as definitely in the script, long, long before Jon Hamm came on board.

However, that scene was edited together with the scene before, to make one scene, so you might have missed it in the script book. When the scene before was mostly cut I made sure that that line stayed, because for me it was hugely important and said a lot about Gabriel.

battery-acid-bitch asked:

Why, in Episode 2, did the camera focus on the book Gabriel slams down “Mrs. Benton’s Book Of Household Management”? I googled it but I couldn’t find anything connecting it to anything about Good Omens/angels/you/Terry. Is there symbolism or is it just random?

This is probably not intentional at all, but this is how it went in my head:

Gabriel: I’m just here buying this book of porn!
*picks up giant Victorian cookbook*
Aziraphale: *sweats nervously* Am I being called out for gluttony here in my own house.
*it’s from the sameish time that Crowley was having an angry nap so Aziraphale learned to dance and made all those nice gentleman friends!*
Aziraphale: Oh sugar.

somnambulipstick asked:

I have to say, my favorite part of the Good Omens series is... women are allowed to be ugly. That might sound weird but it's fantastic to see Beelzebub and Dagon presented in the same way as Hastur and Ligur are, in regards to appearance (as opposed to a Hulk/She-Hulk representation). Thank you for letting women be CHARACTERS and not just pretty sex objects :)

neil-gaiman answered:

You are so welcome.

I’m not sure what it says about the wonderful Good Omens crew but it never occurred to any of us making it, me or Douglas the director, or anyone in costuming or hair or make-up, to do it any other way. It was much more fun to make Beelzebub and Dagon the fly and fish equivalent of Hastur and Ligur; just as what was important about the angels was that they were all well-dressed executives…
