I’ve seen both sides of the argument. One side argues that Aziraphale is oblivious/an idiot and doesn’t realize Crowley means HIM when he says “I lost my best friend” and the other side argues “he knows but he’s English and/or there’s things that need doing so he can’t deal with it right now”

but has anyone considered that the last time Aziraphale spoke to Crowley, just before being discorporated, Crowley picked up the phone and brushed Aziraphale off by saying, specifically “Yeah, it’s not a good time, got an old friend here” and there is NO explanation between that moment and “I lost my best friend” and Crowley is there alone, ie without the old friend he brushed Aziraphale off for earlier.

Like. Aziraphale may just legitimately think Crowley lost his best friend, because Aziraphale knows he’s more than a best friend to Crowley. He’s a best friend and more, and he’s not dead or lost, he’s right there, and Crowley doesn’t say “I thought I lost you.” So I dunno. I just think Aziraphale has very, very valid reasons for assuming Crowley isn’t talking about him.

I feel the same way.

Also, I feel like the fact that Aziraphale seems unable to actually SEE Crowley gets glossed over a lot. During the scene, it’s clear that Aziraphale is disoriented. He’s looking in Crowley’s general direction, but never straight at him, as though he’s guessing at his location based on sound, but can’t actually see anything. So he might be able to hear that Crowley is upset (and I say might, because it’s possible he can’t hear very well either), but Aziraphale completely misses seeing Crowley light up when he appears, and is completely unaware of how wrecked Crowley looks when he mentions losing his best friend.

So Aziraphale broke out of Heaven, wandered around who knows what kind of ethereal realm, somehow managed to track down Crowley, he can’t see anything and its debatable how well he can hear, AND Crowley then starts talking about losing his friend - when Crowley had just said he was meeting with an old friend when they talked on the phone? I mean, who wouldn’t be confused in that situation???

tldr: Aziraphale isn’t an idiot, nor is he English and trying to deal - he’s in a confusing situation and can’t goddamn see.

obaewankenope asked:

what if their wings were pinioned when they were given physical forms because it's to stop them from flying and so they have to take the specific route to heaven/hell? like, you can't say that isn't the sort of asinine, dickish kinda behaviour both sides would insist on because they need to keep control of their only real agents on earth and can't have them coming and going all they like

kedreeva answered:

I mean, there’s canon evidence of such a thing. Michael, Uriel, and Sandalphon turn up on Earth to threaten and beat up Aziaphale, and they fly off when they hear the war horns begin.

You know who doesn’t? Aziraphale.

And I mean, obviously he has Things To Do, but his things he must do…. are going to the bookshop and turning on the door to Heaven so that he can get there. If the others can just fly off when they please…. why would Aziraphale need that portal. Why would he not just fly off. why does metatron need to leave the door open for him to get back instead of just being like “k fly back when you’re ready then” like we see the other angels do

why don’t either of them ever fly anywhere, ever? why do they drive?

It certainly shines a whole new light on when Aziraphale cries out: “You can’t LEAVE, Crowley.” Can he? even if he wanted to, which he doesn’t, can he

I’m just saying. Honestly the more I think about it, the worse this gets. I don’t like this at all.

amazing idea but don't go asking OP more about it good omens pinioning headcanon a j crowley Aziraphale

Inspired by a friend of mine who is a proud new father

An evil cult is trying to wake up the Sleeping One which would be a Bad Thing

Not for the usual reason though: the Sleeping One is a primordial earth elemental baby who has been sleeping for a thousand years (which on the scale of primordials is just enough for their parents to have shut their eyes for a hot second)

Should the Sleeping One awake they will either start crying (which will be loud enough to destroy everything within miles) OR start dawdling around, causing landslides and earthquakes in the process

me hearing all the different sides of the story because everyone involved has told me directly what their take on the situation is but not saying anything and just watching it unfold like a intensely dramatically ironic shakespearean play with an audience of one (1) which is ME
