The Watchman.
Did a photoshoot with @afterwits at the Smyrna Sugar Mill Ruins. We weren’t allowed to stay after sunset, so a little editing magic was in order to get a night time look. :)

Hitzefrei = time off from school on account of excessively hot weather (usually used without an article, but if required, use das)
On extremely hot summer days, students in Germany get time off from school under certain conditions. In former times, there were general rules in all of Germany, but now each state has a different sets of rules. In some stated it is up to the headmaster to decide to stop teaching. As a rule of thumb, if the temperature exceeds 25 to 27 °C at 10 a.m. outside or in individual classrooms, measures must be taken to spare students from trying to learn in excessive heat. In most states, supervision must be ensured for underage students, while in other cases students of high school age do not get Hitzefrei.
In Saxony, teachers have the option to make a trip to the forest of a
public pool, where open-air lessons may be held if the topic permits to
do so. Another option is shortening the lessons and extending the breaks. Sending the students home requires a permit by the parents in
advance.
The rule goes back to the Prussian minister of education Robert Bosse, who issued a decree on August 24, 1892 stating:
“If the centigrade thermometer shows 25 degrees in the shade at 10 a.m., school lessons must under no circumstances continue for more than four hours, and just as little must they come to school two times. Even at lower temperatures, a reduction of class time is necessary if the classrooms are to small or too crowded.” He
also
suggested to let the students play games if large shaded places were available in the vicinity.
devine-emissions asked:
Are you aware of the show Supernatural? The creator has admitted that he took a lot of inspiration from Good Omens and named his own King of Hell character Crowley after your Crowley 😊 The show is of course a massive success at 15 seasons now.
Yes, definitely aware of it. I’ve always had a vaguely soft spot for it, for the same reason I have a soft spot for Dogma. The creators had borrowed or were inspired by things I’d made, or that Terry and I had made, but were always very upfront about having done so. Which meant that when I met Eric Kripke, or met Kevin Smith, it was lovely.

Can you confirm that the mug that Aziraphale uses when he reads Agnes Nutter's book at the end of episode 2 is on amazon? I may have found it.
That’s probably the same mug, yes.

Hi Neil, I just finished reading the book and the Milton Keynes footnote in the book killed me (its definitely terrible)! I was just wondering at where does "The South" start for Shadwell? Is he a "just a mile" from his home town kind of guy or does he say York or maybe even Leeds?
According to the book, Shadwell hated all Southerners and, by inference, was standing at the North Pole.
So probably somewhere North of Kemi, in Finland.

hello, I'm quite new to the amazing world of good omens. I watched the series a few days ago ( and rewatched it 5 times already) but i i'm still confused about one thing. I don't understand the scene(s) where aziraphael feels love in the tadfield area, what's that supposed to mean? thank you
Hello, Aziraphale feels the love Adam feels for Tadfield - for his home :). (Welcome to the fandom!)
many if not most the fics I have loved and recommended have done the following so I mean this in a fully affectionate way….but if you think they miracle each other’s clothes away instead of fumbling with buttons hastily, clumsily, joyfully….you are out of your DAMN mind
@aziraphalesbian I’M CRYING OVER YOUR TAGS
#i dont go into this type of shipping territory BUT LISTEN#aziraphale hasn’t taken off his current clothing since he put it on in like 1945#so crowley struggles with his buttons and asks aziraphale#‘how do you get this OFF’#and aziraphale turns to him with this horribly guilty expression and just whispers#absolutely mortified of course#‘i have NO IDEA’

I’m 2 episodes into good omens and I just wanted to know if it’s a thing in fandom to go ‘thanks Crowley’ whenever something is minorly inconvenient. Cause I think it should be.
Well now it is.
