Anonymous asked:

How do you pronounce Crowley's au name? (Ruswan) my brain says "rezwan"(like that one garden from recent history that is important to some small religion that I can't spell) but that feels wrong...

dotstronaut answered:

Thanks for asking! There’s a few different spellings of the name in English, since the original name is in Arabic. Wikipedia calls him Riḍwan or Riswan, which appears to be pronounced just as it looks. Other websites also included the spellings Rusvon or Ridvan. I combined all of the above to get the spelling Ruswan, just to make it different, since this is a silly AU and I’m not Muslim. The pronunciation I think would vary a lot depending on where he is, how it’s spelled, and who is saying the name. But I should thank you because I had NO IDEA about this garden and festival! It appears to have direct relation to the name of the angel, who is said to be the guardian/hold the key to paradise on earth. And the garden is GORGEOUS:

This gives even more depth to Crowley’s name, which in turn gives so much more depth to Crowley choosing not to use it. You are an ANGEL, anon!
