i think what makes crowley is so interesting not as a demon who wants more, who can’t help but gaze skyward, but as a demon who already was more, who was in heaven. he wasn’t born bad, he was born just as much an angel as aziraphale, and “back in the old days” all it took to lose that forever was asking questions
so you can see he really does sort of disdain that wings-and-halos shit, thinks it’s too high an expectation, but he kinda misses it too. he built galaxies. he still says things like “for heaven’s sake” and quietly jumps at the chance to do good. he’s not meant for hell but can’t return to heaven so he finds somewhere he can build a different sort of life in and embraces it as much as he can cause he didn’t really have a choice
(whereas aziraphale DOES have a choice and just enjoys dressing like a gay classics professor, which is what he is)
