I’m going to put this under a reamore in case anyone finds it distressing, but the thing about Death, is that he has a Duty.
When you’re dead you come to a desert.
Eva wasn’t entirely sure it would be there. She had hoped, indistinctly, for a more complete and instant ending, but perhaps she could not believe that the gods were so merciful as to give her complete oblivion. She had despaired at the idea of rebirth, or of somebody else’s idea of solace.
Eva turned to the figure beside her. “I don’t think I can cross it,” she said. “I’ve been so tired, for so long. I was - I couldn’t go on.”
Death gazed at her unblinking. “YOU DIDN’T. YOU ARE HERE.”
Eva crinkled her brow, or the memory of it, in confusion. “What do you mean? Where do I have to go?”
Death answered, “ALL YOUR TASKS ARE FINISHED. NOTHING MORE IS NEEDED FROM YOU.”
Eva said, “But I’m supposed to go to someplace, right? Because of what I did in life. Maybe because of how I …stopped.”
Death said, “NO.”
Eva looked around her. The black sands silently glittered at her. “Oh.”
She sat down. The sand scraped silently between her fingers. Everything was silent, because Eva had forgotten breathing.
“I am here,” she said, and ran her fingers through the sand. “How quiet it is. I haven’t had quiet for a while.”
… I had forgotten I wrote this. Man.
Small Gods really shaped me, the whole book, but the first time I read it, the parts I treasured the most were the deaths, every one. I read it out of order, so it was my first encounter with Pratchett’s Death, and he was really everything I needed at the time.
“There is no justice. There’s just me.” Except when he spoke to Azrael in Reaper Man, it was “There’s just us.” And… to me, that can extend to normal people. There’s no justice but what we choose to do for the world. Even if what we do is just be present for one person at a time, or to make the pain be quick, perhaps too quick to matter.
Aziraphale can sense love but not from Crowley? Wonder why
HA! yes

It’s a practice thing, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to make it a little easier!
Here are some tips:
Make sure the alcohol you used to clean the site is completely dry before you insert the needle, otherwise the needle will pull some of it in with it and it will sting like all heck on the inside.
Make the skin as tight as possible where the needle goes through- if you’re really skinny, this might mean pinching up the skin before injecting, if you’re fluffier, this might mean pushing down with your thumb and first finger and spreading the skin out.
T is thick and it’s going to take a few seconds to inject. Relax the muscle you’re injecting into!!! This will probably need to be conscious on your part and you might need to think about it a few times while injecting, but it makes the T go in faster and it’s a lot more comfortable. And of course, don’t move it while you’ve got the needle in!
Don’t be afraid to insert the needle slowly- the “dart” method of self-injection is not helpful for me at all. And it can be more painful if you’re all clenched up.
If injecting into the muscle is super unpleasant for you, consider asking your provider if you can do subcutaneous injections instead. They’re a little easier and you don’t have to relax a muscle to do them. Plus you can do them in your belly, which is an easier angle for some people.
me: why does everyone on this website seem to relate to aziraphale. where are all the other crowleys
me @ me: well you’d probably find them if you stopped exclusively browsing the aziraphale tag because ‘he’s your favorite’

It honestly makes my day when a wonderful anon drops a nice message in my inbox, so why don’t we do that more? We should, right?
You, yeah you, go send nice messages on anon to people. Doesn’t matter who it is, whether or not it’s somebody you follow. Just a simple message like “I don’t know you, but you seem like a great person” can turn somebody’s mood around. Sometimes all I need is a kind word, so I imagine that there’s a lot of other people on Tumblr who’d benefit too. Take a few minutes out of your day to make someone else’s.
Let’s spread positivity!
