What I need everyone that's into Good Omens to understand is that the key difference between Aziraphale and Crowley is that Aziraphale embodies 'I prefer to be soft but I can be a cutthroat bitch when I want to be', meanwhile Crowley is 'I want desperately to be a cutthroat bitch, but deep down, I'm soft'.
Looks like a cinnamon roll but could actually kill you (but he would feel terrible about it, just dreadful, really): Aziraphale, also Adam
Looks like a cinnamon roll but could actually kill you but probably won’t unless you make it necessary: Anathema, Pepper
Looks like they could kill you but is actually a cinnamon roll: Crowley
Looks like a cinnamon roll and is actually a cinnamon roll: Newt
Looks like they could kill you and would actually kill you: DEATH
Looks like they could kill you only specific when wearing BDSM gear but is actually a cinnamon roll: Madam Tracy
Is desperately trying to kill you but keeps being fed cinnamon rolls: Shadwell
Currently eating cinnamon rolls: Brian
Does not know what a cinnamon roll is: Literally all of Heaven and Hell, which is why they’re so cranky
Sinnamon roll: Crowley again
Tiefling bard, when we’re faces with a grave decision “So what do we do?”

Then our occultist drow’s phone goes off. Their notification sound? Owen Wilson saying “WOW”
I think what’s really cute and endearing about fanfiction is that most of the love stories that are showed there are just so simple, you know? The actual stories of people falling in love.
There are no magical fireworks like in movies (and if there are then the characters laugh at that), there are no pink envelopes and always-oh-so-red roses. The characters are dorky, awkward and usually lost. Just like in real life. The authors don’t feel the need to romantise everything because it’s not a Hollywood movie. It’s just a fanfiction. So they write what the used to feel once, what seems cozy and warm for them.
And that’s the case for most of the aus usually. Sure, sometimes there are gunshots, sometimes the world burns, and sometimes someone loses their arm. But at the end the characters fall in love through the most common things like pouring a coffee, not saving the world.
That’s what makes it so realistic and that’s why we cry more often while reading a good fanfic than we do while watching a blockbuster. Because that awkward love is much more convincing than the glossy one.
The myth of Achilles, but instead of holding him by the heel, Thetis sumberges him fully so that Achilles is completely invulnerable and Thetis has one invulnerable hand.

Which app was it? Prism? The effect is excellent.
I’ve noticed there’s sometimes discourse about LGBTQ+ spaces that don’t revolve around alcohol and/or cruising. People, usually younger folk, have strong ideas about what these spaces should be, and don’t do anything to realise them; other, usually older queer people, then criticise them for not doing anything–while also not doing anything themselves, because any reaction other than active sneering contempt is apparently expecting us to “mother” the young ones, or something. That’s just how discourse goes, but it does mean that such spaces–sober and drinking–are corralled in the abstract.
It’s a shame because there actually are sober LGBTQ+ spaces of the exact kind people wish for, and they are wonderful places that need your support!
Note well: I live in London, U.K., so I am relatively well-supplied with queer spaces. However, there is also aggressive gentrification, high homelessness, and a hostile environment for migrants.
The same communities are threatened by the same forces, so the solutions are linked, and grassroots organisations fighting to hold and create LGBTQ+ spaces will associate with and support one another. There is never, ever just a single issue going on.
I will talk about some of them so you can see what kind of world you can make.
This is one of my favourite places: a barbershop run by and for queers.

@openbarbers at Old Street is where you can get a nice haircut for a pay-what-you-can sliding scale fee. The salon started out as just two barbers in the back room of another parlour before moving to its own space as a social enterprise that was crowdfunded by the community.
When you make an appointment, you’re asked your pronouns. The salon is also fully accessible for people who use wheelchairs, which is… deeply not the case for many venues. The toilet is accessible + gender neutral.
Each barber has a specialism–quick trims, shave patterns, hair colouring, afro-textured hair styling. If you want a trim, you should book in advance, but you can very much just come and hang out in the lounge and browse their lovely zine library. The vibe here is always so lovely and relaxed.
Now for the next one, the LGBTQ+ Hub (we also call it the Queer Hub) which is an event run by The Outside Project, an LGBTQ+ homeless shelter. The Hub is a weekly drop-in social space at a local community centre. This an accessible. We make our own gender neutral toilets by sticking signs over the doors to show what facilities are inside each bathroom. (I point this out because some people seriously think gender neutral toilets aren’t possible bc they need to be custom-built… sigh)
It’s quiet, sober, and there are always craft activities going on and/or free services you can access, like sexual health testing or haircuts. You can also just sit quietly with a cup of tea, which is what I do.
I can’t really post photos which really show the space bc there’s always people around–yay!–and there are safeguarding protocols re: faces in photos. However, here are some photos from an activism & placard-making session with We Are The Black Cap, where we came up with slogans and made signs:

You walk in and it’s like someone’s kitchen–really homey! On this kitchen unit there’s always a great spread of tea + coffee available, snacks, many leaflets and business cards from various queer orgs/services, a pack of period pads, and lots of free toothbrushes, toothpaste, condoms + lube in a big Haribo tub :)
(Also, just to note: I have unfortunately heard some Discourse that having condoms in a space immediately “sexualises” it. Consider:
A) This seems to only be said about queer spaces, hmmmMMMMMM
B) No-one has ever shagged, made overtures to shagging, or even attempted chirpsing, upon seeing a box of condoms in an old Haribo tub in a communal kitchen.
C) As I mentioned above, there’s also free sexual health testing, menstrual protection, and toothbrushes available. This is about health.)

You don’t need to be a guest at the shelter–I go most weeks–it’s for absolutely anyone who wants to be in this space, but also it’s necessary & nice to have a friendly space for shelter guests where they can just socialise.
The Hub exists because the people running my local community centre were looking to offer something specifically for LGBTQ+ people, while The Outside Project wanted to create a sober space with activities and outreach for services that meet the needs of our community. The community centre likes The Hub because we’re the most well-attended group!
There was a great post–I can’t find it right now, sadly–about a library that ran an LGBTQ+ event, and how meaningful it was to get letters of support that enable such events to continue because the quantity + content of positive feedback was measurable. As is the case with so many things: if you physically can’t attend, sharing information and donating is always really helpful for any organisation.
Share your local LGBTQ+ organisations, spaces, events, and their histories! I would love to hear about it.

In the early 1990s, Brazilian photo-journalist Sebastião Ribeiro Salgado was stationed in Rwanda to cover the horrific accounts of Rwanda genocide. The on-ground experience left him traumatised. In 1994, he was returning to his home in Minas Gerais, Brazil, with a heavy heart, hoping to find solace in the lap of a lush green forest, where he had grown up.
But, instead, he found dusty, barren land for miles and miles, in place of the forest. In only a few years, his beautiful hometown underwent rampant deforestation, leaving it fallow and devoid of all the wildlife. For him, everything was destroyed. “The land was as sick as I was. Only about 0.5% of the land was covered in trees,’ he shared in an interview with The Guardian. Salgado was shattered.
Saldago’s Wife Wanted to Recreate The Forest
It was at this time that Salgado’s wife Lélia made a near-impossible proposal. She expressed her wish to replant the entire forest. Salgado supported her idea, and together the couple set out on a heroic mission.
Brazil Photographer Forest
Salgado bought an abandoned cattle ranch from his parents and started building a network of enthusiastic volunteers and partners who would fund and sustain their mammoth project. In 1998, the couple founded Instituto Terra – the organisation which tirelessly worked to bring a forest back to life.

Salgado sowed the first seed in December 1999. The couple hired around 24 workers in the beginning and was later joined by numerous volunteers over the years. They worked day and night – from uprooting the invasive weeds to planting new seedlings. Soon, their hard work bore fruit as tropical trees native to the region started flourishing in the area. They received a donation of over one lakh saplings which gave rise to a dense forest. The handcrafted forest comprises mostly of local arboreal and shrub varieties. Latest satellite imagery revealed how a soothing green forest cover has enveloped the area which once was a devastating arid eyesore.Since 1998, they have planted more than 2 million saplings of 293 species of trees and rejuvenated 1,502 acres of tropical forest. The biodiversity-rich zone has recently been declared as a Private Natural Heritage Reserve (PNHR).
The Impact of Salgado’s Forest
The afforestation project, which is undoubtedly one of the greatest environmental initiatives in the world, has also helped to control soil erosion and revived the natural springs in the area. Eight water springs which once dried up, flow at around 20 litres per minute at present, relieving the drought-prone region of its woes. Salgado’s forest also happens to solve the much-debated notion about climate change, proving that the trend can be reversed if tried. His forest has resulted in causing more rainfall to the area and cooler weather, bringing a drastic and desirable change in the climate.

Instituto Terra’s Fauna | by Leonardo Merçon – 2012
The most important positive aspect of the forest till now has to be the return of the lost fauna. More than 172 species of birds, 33 species of mammals, 15 species of amphibians and reptiles have been spotted in the forest interiors, something which was beyond imagination two decades ago. Many of the plant and animal species in his forest actually feature on the endangered list.
Efforts For Good
Climate change is a harsh reality. Mankind is bearing the brunt of the relentless destruction they inflicted on the planet. Yet, people like Salgado and Lélia fill us with hope, proving that patience and persistence can be our keys to heal the wounds of nature. If two people can create a 1502-acre forest in just 20 years, then imagine how much can be done if everyone comes together to protect the environment. It must be reminded that for every tree we plant, we are adding 118 kgs of oxygen to the air every year, and reducing the carbon footprint by 22 kgs.
Efforts For Good urges all the readers to actively engage in planting trees and gradually turn this into a fixed habit.
