consider this: after the failed end of the world, Aziraphale and Crowley realise that they cannot under any circumstances get discorporated, because they would end up in heaven/hell again. So they get really scared and paranoid. Like they get drunk one time and get a cab to go home and they sneak in really weirdly and remind each other to put the seatbelts on and like shush each other while panicking over the seatbelts and talk really quietly. They just sit there and freak out about what could kill them, like “do we breathe enough?? How much do we need to breathe?” Completely forgetting that they literally lived like this for ages without any problems. And then they end up at the bookshop and for some reason they are sure Gabriel is following then they sneak around the shop really obviously and really drunk and telling each other to be quiet and then getting louder by telling that and they really clumsily climb through a window and Aziraphale nearly falls out of it backwards while trying to get in. Like they freak out completely.
