You’d be correct. It’s right next to the entrance for church goers to place their fingers in and make the sign of the cross.
It’s at the fucking door for Christ’s (literal) sake.
he’s either stupid, or thinks that holy water surely must be super protected or something. It’s not like he’s going around churches much. I mean I didn’t know about holy water just being there either.

The fact that you could probably cast it either way, I think, is why it would work
on the one hand, I’m sure Literal Beam of Sunshine DeForest Kelley would excel at playing a sweet, adorkable, constantly-a-bit-flustered angel, and I feel like Nimoy could definitely pull off the I-take-myself-quite-seriously-but-secretly-I’m-also-a-huge-dork vibe for Crowley, plus I could see him driving a Bentley. (I don’t know why exactly, but I can.)
on the other hand, a fussy, pedantic, nerdy, constantly-on-his-dignity, nervous about breaking rules but when he breaks them he breaks them hard angel isn’t that far from Spock, and a sarcastic, cynical, much more softhearted than he’d like you to think, mostly-fell-because-he-asked-too-many-questions demon isn’t that far from McCoy, and Kelley did play a lot of bad guys before Trek…

as soon as I saw your tags I had the impulse to say “oh you can borrow my copy” before I realized the several reasons that wouldn’t work.
Both of these explanations are excellent. Clearly we need this as one of those plays where the actors learn both parts and switch halfway through, or play it through twice.

He was kneeling, sunglasses off, hands open: he was on his knees in front of Aziraphale, who was wringing his hands together, seated at his desk, completely uncertain.

Hell, yes, it had: his ears had rung for a week, he’d seen spots and flashes before his eyes for longer still, he’d felt sunburnt right through to the heart of him, and it really didn’t matter at all, because:
“It was fucking incredible.”
Aziraphale puffed an exasperated breath and stood up, nearly knocking Crowley sprawling; he moved as if preoccupied, not entirely aware that he had a body or that Crowley did. That was a good sign. Perhaps his attention was Elsewhere. Crowley could work with that.
He nudged: “And you liked it too.”
Aziraphale turned to him, face anguished: “That doesn’t mean we should do it again!”
