We all have our blind spots — or do we??

The layout of human eyes and cephalopod eyes is remarkably similar, but in humans, the nerves that carry visual signals to our brains run across the front of the retina, while in cephalopods, those same optic nerves run behind the retina. Where those nerves exit our eyes it creates a blind spot, because there’s no room for photoreceptors to sense light that strikes it there. But cephalopods don’t have that problem since their nerves run behind the retina! Inkredible, right?!

Seeking Writing Advice: this past spring I was rejected from every creative writing MFA for which I applied. I had this idea that I’d be accepted to an amazing program, finally get my own place, and drink iced chais on my balcony surrounded by rough drafts and houseplants. Now I feel lost in the most cliché way. I'm reapplying, but Adulthood is here and whenever I try to write I feel so numb. Have you experienced this? Re: how did you move past it? pls Mr. Gaiman i'm begging for Adult Guidance™

I don’t have an MFA. Most of the working writers I know don’t have MFAs, although a few of them feed themselves by teaching them. Just write. You don’t need anyone’s permission.

Hi Neil! So one of my favorite scenes in the book was when Aziraphale took over Marvin the televangelist’s body. I was sad it didn’t make it, so was wondering if you could have cast someone for that role who it might have been?

We had already cast Patton Oswalt (and Kirsten Vangsness as his assistant). But we ran out of time and money, and despite lots of hoping, we were never able to shoot it.

starstrekbeyond asked:

Sorry if its already been asked but did you have anything to do with the Leauge of Gentlemen being cast in Good Omens?

I did. I’d originally planned for Reese and Steve to be Glozier and Harmony. Then Reese was going to be on Broadway then, and I learned that about the point I wrote Shakespeare, so I asked Reese to be Shakespeare. And at that point Reetu Kabra, our set publicist, relayed a message from Mark saying “What am I then, chopped liver?” so we got all four of the filmic League of Gentlemen in episode 3 of Good Omens.

Hello! This is a little off the wall, but with the incredible attention to detail in Good Omens, I wondered about a potential Easter egg: do you know what was playing on the TV in the background of the cafe scene between Crowley and Shadwell? It looked like it might be witch-related, but it was out of focus on my TV, so I couldn't tell. Thanks for your ongoing engagement with us, and of course for your work!

It’s “Witchfinder General” starring Vincent Price.

I see people reblogging this with “to buy” but this pattern is free??? Someone even asked me “why don’t you charge money for it, it took you forever to put the document together” and I said “Not a lot of people have money and if they have some fabric scraps and a couple of buttons lying around they can make themselves a little mouse friend for free and that might make them happy and that makes me happier than receiving money???” Make yourself a liddol creacher!
