i dont think it’s weird at all! there’s a lot of things i like to see in fic that I’d NEVER want to see in canon.
to me there’s a huge difference between fandom and the source material, fandom is kind of just going “hey what if i changed this or added this or took away this other thing,” and can be as close to canon as you interpret it or as far from canon as you interpret it as you want
