Listen I love the show but I like book!Aziraphale better. Why, you ask? Because while Aziraphale in the book could be very rude and insensitive (for example, that god forsaken “I can’t explain this, especially to you”, which I am NEVER getting over, or when he ditches Crowley for the book) he still didn’t do that “I don’t even like you, you’re a demon” thing quite as much. And yeah, I get why show Aziraphale did that, but it’s really, really frustrating to me to just see him stepping back again and again and again and again

The reason we love Crowley so much is that although he is nominally a Demon and therefore Evil Incarnate, his characterization actually fits the Trickster archetype right down to the letter.

am i just an idiot?? bc i now just realized that “you go too fast for me, crowley” is not sexual, as some ppl claim (no, dont even think about it. theyre ace) or anything like that, but it’s aziraphale saying that they should take it slow. i mean, he’s only just realized he’d been in love with his demon best friend some years ago, never aware that crowley had been pining for him for MUCH longer than that. he’s still struggling about the fact that he’s in love with the enemy, but he doesn’t outright suppress what he feels towards crowley. he says “maybe one day we can go for a picnic. dine at the ritz.” he’d like to be open with him one day, but he can’t right now. and crowley, being as patient & understanding & head over heels for his angel, merely nods and allows him to leave, aziraphale’s “maybe one day” echoing in his head.
