Highlights from Terry Farrell’s GalaxyCon Q&A:
- She got emotional during the documentary talking about her departure from DS9 because it was her first time ever saying what happened in front of the other cast members. There was a lot from that interview that didn’t make it into the documentary, although she didn’t say what.
- No one on the staff was very helpful back when she was dealing with all of this. She only spoke with Rick Berman about it, but said that other people, including Ira, weren’t very kind to her about her leaving.
- Her and Nana work out together. She thinks it’s hilarious that Dax and Kira are working out together but no one in their gym knows who they are.
- She met Adam Nimoy after his father had passed away and he was working on For the Love of Spock. She called him handsome and her affection for him came through in the way that she spoke about him. He’s a big inspiration in her life. She also said that she likes going to his events and hiding in the shadows so he gets the attention and she can avoid being in the spotlight.
- Her upcoming project right now is being a mom, but if asked to return to Star Trek, she’d do it “in a nano-second.”
- Her favorite funny moment from DS9 was when Rene made her cry. (She didn’t elaborate on why, but said it’s funny now although it wasn’t funny at the time. But this was also just related to how DS9 was a serious set so there weren’t that many funny moments.)
- Part of the reason she enjoyed doing Rejoined so much was that it provoked such a huge negative reaction. She knew this meant she was doing something right.
- She started to hear from the LGBTQ+ community after doing Rejoined, and has a personal connection now that she has a nephew who has transitioned to male. She kept mixing up the words “transgender” and “pansexual” though, I think.
- She and Michael Dorn decided to start flirting with each other to see if the writers would catch on and give their characters more scenes together. In real life, he was like Worf in that he’d challenge her to improve. They would rehearse scenes together then he’d decide at the last minute that he wanted to change something, which was frustrating to her at the time.
