Aziraphale collected books. If he were totally honest with himself he would have to have admitted that his bookshop was simply somewhere to store them. He was not unusual in this. In order to maintain his cover as a typical second-hand bookseller, he used every means short of physical violence to prevent customers from making a purchase. Unpleasant damp smells, glowering looks, erratic opening hours – he was incredibly good at it.

If Crowley is the demon who tempted Adam and Eve with the apple, and also the demon who tempted Jesus, he should be quite a high-ranking demon, as those are some of the most famous demon stories from the bible. With those, on top of the things like the Spanish Inquisition and the M25 that we know he got praised for, it’s a surprise really that he isn’t a Duke of Hell or higher even. What kept him down from such a title then, why was he never granted one?

Maybe Aziraphale is right about him being just a little too nice… I’d love to hear more about the probably numerous times he let hell down and they actually found out about it…
