Bookshop Opening Hours

I open the shop on most weekdays about 9:30 or perhaps 10am. While occasionally I open the shop as early as 8, I have been known not to open until 1, except on Tuesday. I tend to close about 3:30pm, or earlier if something needs tending to. However, I might occasionally keep the shop open until 8 or 9 at night, you never know when you might need some light reading. On days that I am not in, the shop will remain closed. On weekends, I will open the shop during normal hours unless I am elsewhere. Bank holidays will be treated in the usual fashion, with early closing on Wednesdays, or sometimes Fridays. (For Sundays see Tuesdays).

Anonymous asked:

How can you tell if a marimo is fake?

happymarimo answered:

This is a really broad topic. Usually I’d go through fake Marimos as a whole, but I’ll try to sum it up for you just for time (and my lack of an attention span lol)

Fake Marimos (synthetic plants:)

  • Do not photosynthesize
  • Are all “too perfectly round”
  • Hair often looks scruffier, rather than more like hair
  • “Too green”
  • Most of them bought online come in a pack of 3 or 6
  • Found mostly on Amazon/online
  • If there’s a debate in the comments whether or not the Marimos are fake, they’re probably fake. There will be no debate in comment sections for real Marimos.

Fake Marimos (Small Marimo filaments glued together with glue that isn’t aquarium safe:)

  • Look like different chunks of Marimo glued together, rather than one uniform structure
  • Might photosynthesize
  • May rot from the inside easily
  • Comes apart easily at the seams
  • Usually sold on ebay

Real Marimos:

  • Photosynthesize when introduced to indirect light and are in cold water
  • Not “too green”
  • Grow - very very slowly
  • Squishy, soft, even on the inside - very sponge-like when squished
  • Not a perfect circle (usually more oval-like)
  • Sometimes small sand particles can be found inside (this is normal, it’s just how they’re farmed)
  • Sold on ebay from reputable breeders/farmers
  • Sold in stores (Petsmart, Aquatic Arts for example)

Hope this helps friend!

gays and all aside one of my very very favorite lines from good omens is:

“and there never was an apple, in adam’s opinion, that wasn’t worth the trouble you got into for eating it”

i can’t even quite put my finger on just why i love it so much, but upon reading the book a second time it struck me as so beautiful and poetic and i’m so happy it made it into the show
