Breaking: Gastroenterologist Thinks Patient is Full of Sh*t

COOKEVILLE, TN - A local gastroenterologist by the name of Baxter Jones completely shocked patient Mason Watts and his family when he flat out told them that Watts was simply full of sh*t. “He told my husband that he was ‘utterly full of sh*t,’” explained Mrs. Kathryn Watts, the shock subsiding…

From Wiki:
Heilung is an experimental folk band of members from Denmark, Norway, and Germany.[1] They do music based on texts of original artifacts from the Iron Age and the Viking Age. They describe their music as “amplified history from early medieval northern Europe”

YESSSSS. Listen to this and you will be filled with the urge to sack a monastery.
Wait, they changed honeycomb cereal?
They did, and it was an abomination. Be pleased you did not experience it.
My brother told me this past weekend that it was still ‘too soon’ to discuss what had happened to Honeycomb, so my family is maybe a little bit invested in this cereal returning to its proper form, haha

Back when I first decided to do a reread and decided to make a separate blog for all the quotes that I knew I was going to want to share, I was a lot choosier about quoting. A lot of that came from actually physically holding the books while typing from them (I now read them all on kindle, because while I have the whole series physically it’s way, way easier to mark and find quotes in ebooks).
Once I started getting a rhythm going though – and once people started following the blog (which, to be perfectly honest, I hadn’t considered; I had no idea how many discworld fans would enjoy just seeing these quotes pop up every so often) – I started putting more out there because seeing other people enjoy them made me enjoy them more too. Sounds like an inspiring quote you’d read on a ketchup packet or something, but it’s true!
Now I think I’m slowing down again just because I’ve gotten so busy and hectic that I just have less time to really go through and write out every quote that I love. A lot of that is good; I’ve gotten to do some real dream job stuff in the past year, but it leaves a lot less time for reading.
SO to answer your question – I often wish I could! but what’s really amazing is, there’s so much to these books that even if you took out all the bits I’ve quoted, there would still be so much to see.

For a really in depth look at it: https://fanlore.org/wiki/Songfic
But to copy paste the basic info:
“Songfic is a fanfiction term for stories which include song lyrics, which may be interposed between sections of the story, or given to a character who sings them. The fic may also include said song being heard on the radio by one or more of the characters in the fic who react accordingly to said song.
This type of fic is often disparaged in LiveJournal fandom and in other fandoms as badfic; however, it remains quite popular in other spaces, such as fanfiction.net, despite the fact that posting songfics is explicitly against the rules.[1] Other archives such as fanfiktion.de and the Archive of Our Own do allow songfics, but expressedly forbid the inclusion of the entirety of a song’s lyrics.[2][3]
The custom of titling fic from a fragment of song lyrics is widely practiced and considered distinct, although works inspired by a song while not directly quoting it may sometimes be considered a type of songfic as well.”

It’s important to recognize the difference between “I’m nitpicking scientific facts because I’m willfully ignoring how suspension of disbelief, fantasy, and sci-fi work and just trying to be obnoxious about how unrealistic this is”, and “I’m nitpicking scientific facts because there are actually some intriguing worldbuilding possibilities if we use them that can add another dimension to the story”, and “I’m nitpicking scientific facts because considering the real-world implications of how this would happen are FUCKING HILARIOUS”
