Normally I (and a lot of other people) read Mulan as being queer either around orientation, gender or both. But Shang is falling in love with Ping throughout most of the film
So #BisexualShang anyone? … just me?
this is my favorite end-of-year review-type article because it’s short and sweet but every single bullet point on this list paints a completely wild picture
“a significant amount of string”
Really you just gonna ignore
“PIECE OF HARD WHITE PLASTIC THAT HE BROKE OFF WHILE WORKING W/ CRAFTS”
I ain’t even gonna list the orifice involved with that either read for yourselves.
A moment of silence, in recognition for what our A&E collesgues have to deal with…
I have to say, I am quite intrigued for what things I’m going to see on my A&E job.

It’s based around a solid idea, i.e. monoculture lawns composed of non-native grass are wasteful and require excessive resources to maintain. The problem is that people oversimplify the concept and come away with the idea that Grass = Bad & Earth-Killing. This leads to some extraordinarily bad takes, including, but not limited to:
- the only ethical use of your lawn is to grow food (usually ignoring the labor required to do this) and anyone who wants a place to hang out and let their dog run around is the evil resurrection of Louis XIV
- Grass is bad! Always! Fuck you if you like grass! Native grass, you say? Never heard of it, you should use [nonnative and sometimes invasive] groundcover instead
- PLANT FLOWERS TO SAVE THE (EUROPEAN HONEY)BEES, GROW THINGS FOR THE (EUROPEAN HONEY)BEES, WE ONLY CARE ABOUT (EUROPEAN HONEY)BEES BECAUSE I READ A POST THAT SAYS WE’RE GONNA DIE WITHOUT THEM!!! Fuck all other bugs tho
- There is a post going around linking to an article about replacing your lawn with moss, but if you actually read the article the lady advocating this literally says if you want it to stay green you have to water it three. Times. A. Day. This is assuming you live somewhere moss won’t instantly dessicate in the first place, of course!
- A lot of talking about native plants that generalizes what they are and where you can get them, which just confuses people because it is of course going to depend on where you are growing things and not where Internet Know-It-All 45567 is
- Absolutely no discussion of differences in biomes and soil chemistry and geology and climate or even personal needs or preferences; there is only one Right Answer for everyone
Tl;dr complex topic gets dumbed down, no one benefits at all
Wow, I am so glad that I am not the only person spreading Grass Fandom Discourse! This is such a good and succinct post! Thank you OP!
