TREKMATCH! # 229 - TNG’s “Identity Crisis” vs 2017’s Batman: Gotham by Gaslight

BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT

Dozens of these Batman movies later I never figured I’d find one of the best ones, and it’d be one of those “imaginary stories” that doesn’t take place in the usual imaginary DC Universe. Here Batman fights Jack the Ripper in Victorian Gotham. Of course the usual Bat Friends and Enemies show up in new old timey versions, like the cadre of Robins who have become street urchins. I remember the comic being kinda bland but this movie is great.

GRADE: A-

STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION - “Identity Crisis”

Geordi and a bunch of his friends from another ship start turning into weird blue vein people, because it turns out they got DNA’d by a race who only reproduces by turning other beings into themselves. But waitasec, how’d that species reproduce before other humanoids started showing up to the planet? I wonder if LeVar Burton had to wear the veiny blue bodysuit. Addendum: he did indeed!

GRADE: C

I’ve not read the book “good omens” and I kinda don’t plan on seeing the tv adaptation of it (the trailer looks far too scary by far) but I can tell you. The angel is the flustered quiet gay that the demon teaches to let loose.

Actually, the demon is often flustered, the angel never shuts up, and when they first meet the demon is impressed that the angel gave away a whole-ass flaming sword and then lied about it to God.
