If screaming fourteen times in her entire run still seems like a lot to you, remember that the average SPE of a tenth Doctor companion is 1.316 screams per episode. And the most frequent screamer in Doctor Who’s history, Amy Pond, managed to scream ten times in Vincent and the Doctor alone.
By making the claim, “Susan Foreman did nothing but scream”, one suggests that “on average, Susan Foreman did not exist in thirty-eight of her episodes”. Which is clearly a nonsense, as fans of the show will recall her laughing at daleks, setting skulls on fire, and trying to convince her grandfather not to kill people.
We all have our favourite companions, but if you look at the data, it becomes clear that the frequency of screaming isn’t as a large of a factor as one might think. Or indeed, as much as it is referenced as a factor.

While Spiders Georg is the official meme of this blog, I have a point of contention. The average tenth Doctor companion screams 1.316 times per episode, the average for earlier seasons was significantly lower. The average scream per episode containing companions from the First Doctor era to the Twelfth Doctor era is .796. SPE has been increasing as the show progresses.
All this reminds me that I really ought to get on with logging the screams I have not done.

He would, however, regularly update twitter accounts belonging to each of his cats.
