I think it’s really important to remember that as a Changeling, Odo doesn’t smile automatically when he’s happy like humanoids do. If he smiles, it’s intentional. He wants you to know he’s happy. So every time he smiles at Quark’s misfortune, he’s doing it to say “I enjoy watching you suffer, and I want you to know that”
