Oh no Aziraphales bookshop has no right looking this good. If it looked that good there would be people constantly wanting to hang around. Digging through books and admiring that nice staircase.

I am also not saying that only because i will be extremely sad when that accident happens

good omens aziraphale if there was booksop like this nearby i would be constantly nosing around and i would bring my friends to look at it too

listen, i’m just gonna make a note that like. on this blog, you are not gonna see anything along the lines of like, the tv show getting the A/C dynamic “wrong”, i’m not gonna be reblogging stuff that has a go at neilman for the way it’s being adapted, i’m not gonna really buy into this… surprisingly - to me - negative tone that some posts have, with this sense of propriety and ownership over the characters, which belong to this crowd of like, “the tv show’s dynamic must be completely like the book dynamic” or that the tv show’s dynamic is ruining the book.

like, neilman already pointed out that the tv show and the book are separate entities, but i just want to rephrase that in fandom terms.

the GO TV show is a Modern AU. it’s a Modern AU, with different characters (including new characters), updated takes, added emotions, and different modes of conflict. so many of us have taken an old fic and remixed it, twisted the universe, updated it? the remix is separate from the old fic, the characters are not the same, bc they’re AU. it’s not the end of the world! (well, it is, but you get my drift.)

this idea that the GO TV show, by virtue of not being Completely Perfect As You Envisioned It And How Dare They, is going to retroactively rush back through the timeline and burn every copy of GO is silly. they’re different iterations of familiar characters.

i’m gonna just keep chill and treat them as such.

When a fresh batch of snow falls to the ground, the world tends to quiet down.

That could partially be attributed to human factors: it’s likely winter, people aren’t out as much and traffic comes to a halt. However, there are more scientific reasons for the quietude. When a fresh blanket of snow settles down, it’s doing a lot more than turning the world into a winter wonderland.

“When snow falls, it does absorb some of the soundwaves,” says Bernadette Woods Placky, a meteorologist and director of Climate Central’s Climate Matters program. [x]

As snowflakes stack up, there is more space left between them, compared to the surface of liquids like water. With all that space, sound is unable to bounce off snow as easily as it would off water. As a result, the sound gets absorbed.

here’s some garashir fics on ao3 I like with under 1,000 views, and which therefore might not show up readily in searches. I recommend them and think they deserve some more love:

this year i devour: Non-linear storytelling done right. It’s careful, well-paced, and very satisfying. I prefer not to spoil anything in it. It’s technically a Part 2, but Part 1 is essentially decoupled (and is written in a different style)

Close to Home: I like fics that are cautious and low-key. I consider this one an insightful alternative to how things are often thought to turn out. Credible and works well in the world as it’s established, by TangentialMango who always does a successful job writing the characters in a balanced way, one where they feel realistically and meaningfully flawed while still maintaining what’s fundamentally good about them.

Snow on Cardassia: This one’s not a “ship fic” as such. It is… pointed. I am glad I ran into this after I explored something similar because otherwise I’d have felt derivative. Either way, this person got there first! Did a great job! If it bums you out, then go read their other DS9 fic, Armistice. Then if you want to bum yourself out again, realize that they’re non-conflicting, therefore making Snow on Cardassia even sharper.

Unexpected Places: a few different planets and a vignette from each. The third chapter is the personal highlight for me, though–does a good job capturing a specific communication habit I think makes sense for that ship.

Bonus: remembrance which is a Garak and Kira friendship fic, a direly under-served topic and a personal favorite. Their friendship is cool & rad.

These little ones were just born last night! Unfortunately their mom didn’t chew their umbilical cord like most kitty moms do, and the kittens’ cords became so hopelessly entangled that they couldn’t move or nurse. Their human (an experienced rescue volunteer) found them all tied up and at first went to cut the cords herself, but as soon as she realized how tight they were stuck together she rushed them to us for help rather than risk accidentally hurting them. Assistant R and I were able to get them sorted enough to where we could clamp and cut the cords. And now they can get back to nursing their mama and doing the Very Important kitten job of growing up fat and healthy!

This is the sort of case I live for as a technician: adorable neonates, utilizing my skills, and a happy ending!
