Он был одним из ведущих хоккеистов СССР 1970-х годов, который получил признание как в своей стране, так и за её пределами. С детских лет Харламов увлекался хоккеем и футболом. Впервые он встал на коньки, когда ему было 7 лет во время тренировок по хоккею своего отца, который играл за команду завода. Валерий Харламов входил в состав успешного хоккейного трио с Михайловым и Петровым.

On January 14, 1948 in Moscow Kharlamov Valery Borisovich was born. This is an outstanding Soviet hockey player, a forward of team CSKA (1967 — 1981) and USSR national team. He was one of the leading hockey players of the USSR of the 1970th who became famous both in the country, and abroad. Since his childhood Kharlamov was fond of hockey and soccer. For the first time he started skating when he was 7 years old during hockey trainings with his father who played for a factory team. Valery Kharlamov was a part of a successful hockey trio with Mikhaylov and Petrov.
