See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

realtalk, tbh Garak literally makes more sense as a Jadzia-adjacent tertiary character

- both have had “past lives” that they discuss in humorous ways

- both have gone off on a trip and then murdered a dude because they were all fucked up on Blood (this is an important experience and they would be able to relate to one another in ways specific to being fucked up on Blood)

- game masters (dabo & kotra)

- excel at drinking

- kickass clothes & rad fashion sense

- sense of detachment based on having a very disaffected view on whether they live or die / find bad shit hilarious

- graduates of institutions founded on deceit and the belief that you have the right to determine someone else’s life trajectory based solely on nigh-arbitrary standards

- old bastards

I think the writers were just afraid if they had them onscreen at the same time they’d just be too cool and make the rest of the station look less cool

this isn’t to exclude bashir and garak though obvs, imho this is just one of my excuses for More Garak Episodes

jadzia garak jadzia dax bashir can't make a move whenever they're together because he's in a flop-sweat trying to decide which one he wants to stuff his biz into

tbh all joke posts aside, including those By Me, I do think it’s sort of weird that garak gets branded as a “murderer” / “assassin” since I think it’s pretty clear he just did whatever was deemed to match the needs of the Obsidian Order and it was just part of his skill set. like if whatever job needed someone really competent and it involved killing people, he’d do that, and if it required interrogation, he’d do that, and if it involved accessing classified materials, he’d do that. like I don’t think he specifically liked or disliked any aspect of it, I think at most it was satisfaction at having expertly completed a task that his higher-ups thought was of value to the State, and/or might potentially garner precious Dad Approval

like there’s a subtle difference between “kills a person because that’s mandatory to achieve this goal” and “assassin” which I think in the pale moonlight lays out. like yeah quark doesn’t get it, but quark’s not coming at it from the same headspace

I would love a Starfleet internship

Just a bunch of fucking space nerds trying to show me the ropes while casually explaining plot points that’ll ultimately be important later.

Sometimes you get involved with said plot and die, but that’s part of the beauty of the universe.

You might get a meaningful quote in there too before you die, so a main character can clutch your hand and be haunted by your death for forty five whole minutes.

Deep space nine has a wonderful overarching plot but some of its best and most memorable moments

Are just the casual little moments where Sisko and friends are up to shenanigans on the station.

It’s basically just the Office on a space station.

O'Brien’s baby won’t go to sleep so he takes him with him to work and ends up leaving him in a power conduit, hilarity ensues when his boss finds out.

Quark deals with a worker strike and gets his business license revoked. He loses everything. His friends band together and bring in chairs and drinks and show the greedy old cynic that maybe friendship IS better than material gain. Sometimes.

The captain’s son and his best friend move in together for the first time. One is too messy. The other is too strict and orderly. They fight, move out, then realize they care about each other too much. And they move back in together and agree to a controlled mess.

Quark complains about how noisy his rival Odo, who lives above him, is. Kira comments on how lucky it is that odo’s quarters are right above quark’s. Odo deviously states that luck had nothing to do with it.

All these scenarios deserve a little comedy sting sound.

They’re all hilarious and build on preexisting character relationships to create an atmosphere of humor even between the darker moments of the show.

So not only are the dark and gritty episodes invigoratingly exciting.

But its lighter moments will remind you that deep space nine is more than a show. It’s a home away from home.

Y'all fucking weebs are missing something great here and it breaks my heart that you’ll never know true artistry cuz you’re too obsessed with those big floppy anime tiddies.

I wanna watch Star trek discovery but I just feel like the klingons aren’t a fun as they used to be.

Deep Space Nine Klingons were like big ferocious drunken warrior sailors.

They were beefy and energetic and eccentric and intimidating but also kind of relatable dudes because they embodied chaos, but had a strict code of honor.

I don’t know, I know I need to see the next star trek but I kind of got used to Klingons who are like these chaotic neutral force in the universe.

And I didn’t watch too much of STD, unfortunate initials, but I got this sense that the Klingons were some scary big bad who were more monstrous and unlikable than just chaotic and easy to rouse, but a real party when you’re on their side.

They’re like big rowdy boys who’ll either throw you a party you’ll never forget or set your frat house on fire.

They were more evil in the original series, I know, and it was only with tng, ds9, and Voyager that Klingons became more neutral but I dunno.

Maybe I’m just overly fond of the wild haired and wild souled power bottoms of the older star trek universe.
