I about broke my fucking thumb getting all the hair out of this head, despite that it was balding and falling out when I got it. Maybe most of the hair was falling out on its own but the stuff that wasn’t was planning on being there for eternity.
This is, or was, depending on your view, a really faded Malibu Barbie head, which I’m really interested to repaint far more in the vein of Stacey.
The problem I keep running into is that I really want to paint all the faces but have to reroot the damn heads first. I also don’t have anything even resembling a plan, I just want to play with the paint on this shape.

Did you know Star Trek: Deep Space Nine premiered 26 years ago?!? Anyways, here’s a pic of Odo literally melting in Kira’s arms :)
Speaking of it like that, maybe ‘do all the doll things you’ve been cautiously approaching For Real This Time’ is a thing I could focus on this year. (…in addition to trying to make a painting on a regular schedule, apparently.)
I’ve done some sawing and drilling to facilitate the jointing of the previously un-articulated frankendoll parts on my floor, but I have yet to commit to trying it on a doll I actually like and want to keep rather than a body that was already fucked up in some way and was largely useless anyhow.
I’ve never made a doll wig, and I’ve never rerooted with yarn.
Spraypaint! Dye!
All these things I’m sure I would have been doing 20 years ago if I’d not been made terrified to touch things.
I did do a successful foot transplant like a month ago with Lina, so there’s that at least, haha.

I have never made a doll wig! I am intrigued by the idea - especially for my beautiful ball jointed nightmare - and even have hair wefts that won’t really work well with the reroot method I have the patience for, but have been wimpy about trying for some reason.
Maybe not-Malibu not-Stacey could be a first.
I also really wish I were a yarn hoarder despite doing no crafts that require it because I want to try yarn rerooting a lot. My girlfriend has suggested I learn to knit while I’m there since we all know I’ll just start squirreling away rainbow yarn like some big gay crafty dragon regardless.
When I first got into using yarn for doll hair, I bought some of the “fiber for scrapbooking use” variety packs, like this https://www.etsy.com/listing/251847400/scrap-book-fibers6-assorted-fiber-and –although trying to look up examples now, I’m not sure if they’re as common as they were in, like, 2004.
I have loads of textured yarn and would be happy to send you some if you like!
I would not fight you if you wanted to send yarn either!
I like the look of that textured stuff! Is that generally better to use than just any old …pill-shaped cluster… of it?
It certainly looks like less of a commitment on those cards like that as far as space or discovering I hate the look of it plastered to a doll.
