Friendly reminder that consumers were never told to drink water until Coca-Cola and Nestle figured out how to bottle it.

The hydration campaign and the science behind it is bought. You think that shit came about because of a concern for consumers’ well-being? Coca-Cola owns a third of the world’s potable water.

Until the 90s, you couldn’t find bottled water in a store. People would think you were daft if you suggested it. Drink milk, drink Gatorade, drink water—companies have always been in the business of inventing a need to create a demand.

Dehydration is a genuinely hard state for the average American to achieve. It’s a health emergency. We get water from our food and normal eating and drinking habits. The need for extra water is an invention.
