Some swedish 1970s modernism in the flavour “brutalism” i like

filmhuset, were the higher education school of movie creators is located, among things

I have had lectures in this location when i studied media and commincation in undergrad. Its really neat looking inside, and totally ok from the outside!

Some 1960/1970s archicture i needed to… Hm. Learn to love, so to say

Södra Huset, the main building of Stockholms University

Lots of good intentions in its planning! But missed some key details like:

Students need to eat, they need to be able to sit somewhere, they need bathrooms. Why this is my main complaint against this building is because. Being a swedish functionalism building it is supposed to be designed to serve the university in an optimal fashion. But somehow, the architect hete did not

1. Realise how many students were going to enroll to the recently created Stockholm university

2. Forgot that students exist… Alot of the time.

Its a shame this went so badly cause i LOVE his work with hökarängen. But, södra huset. It was not David Helldéns finest moment.

Some good things exists though! His colour coding of the entire building, so one will easier find their way to ones lecture hall is really well done! Sad only, that the lecture hall often looks like abonded buildings in horror movies, but well..

From the outside

From the inside. This thing is easy to navigate because of colour coding. BUT it also created the worst sound picture ever, because ut like Stockholm unis highway, and it goes through the entire building *shudders*

Previously their were like no bathrooms nor food places here. Nor really places to sit. They have thank fully been working to improve during the last decade though

This is how all the main corridors to the lecture halls looks like. One get used to it

And its much better than the non main corridors, which appear if you turn right on that pic

They look something like this (although this one is one floor below the above pic). This is were the ghosts gets you in a horror movie

The blog i got these pics from mocked these for ugly, but HEY, this is the most fun looking part! Clearly this person hasnt learned to appricate the small things, like. A place not looking like a fallout monster corridors, hmpf

These are colour coded so one can keep track of were one is in the building

Forexemple it could look like this! This is how the hallway the people walking down those stairs are going. It the very same main highway of the building i spoke of earlier.

Stockholm Universities main building: “its so damn borgeious with like. Decorations at the lecture hålls walls! Our students shall learn in the enviroment of a super market storage space!

PS. they should have really expansive design chairs which are also not very comfortable
