Sticky palms, heartbeat out of control, vision greying out at the edges: Ezri grabs the first solid surface her hands can find.

She misses the routine question that the Guardian has to ask Jadzia.

Alone with her, Ezri stares: she doesn’t look like Jadzia at all, because that’s the nature of the zhian’tara, and yet—

“You look like you just saw a ghost,” not-quite-Jadzia says, eyes twinkling.

Ezri frowns. It figures that she would crack a joke at a time like this; but it does snap Ezri out of her panic.
