DS9’s Far Beyond The Stars is pandering to me in all of its mid-century science fiction magazine pulpy glory, its suits-and-hats cosplay, the way it actually engages directly with racism and representation, and all the character reimaginings that make AUs fun and transformative of the original material! I haven’t even finished the episode yet, I just have to gush about how much this hits all my Star Trek fan buttons.
My roommate is watching DS9 for the first time and he insists on being a completist and not going for a curated listed of the good episodes like I usually do when I show people that show because it’s so heckin’ long. Anyway, we watched “Move Along Home” today and when I told him it was a legendarily bad episode, he got really excited. He was not disappointed. I have not watched it since first airing and oh my god the FASHION in this episode is like next fucking level:

it’s a race of people with WICKED mullets whose clothes are made solely from the material found in the costume room for Solid Gold. Just incredible.
And Alexander Siddig’s acting in this episode is… a fuckin’ Choice lmfao… like he knew it was the most absurd shit ever and went full weirdo:
gif not mine. but this episode lmfao. BONKERS. roommate loved it. If he’s on board for Move Along Home, he’s gonna lose his shit when this show actually gets good hahaha.
forge new bonds with old friends by joining the vision-fueled family road trip to a desert planet so your friend can get back in contact with his alien deity buddies
