As a local search for a missing 74 year old hunter enters the fifth day, I’m reminded of what a Search and Rescue worker once told me, “Stay with your car, because we always find the car”. This has proven true in the case of this hunter. His truck was found stuck in a ditch one day after he was reported missing, but unfortunately he has yet to be found.

Oh, it’s Jake. How could it be anyone other than Jake.
Here’s the segue: I miss 80s and 90s fashion. And I miss its extravagance. I mean, I don’t really… personally miss 80s fashion? I’m a bit on the young side for that. But there’s an optimism communicated in the aesthetic of the day, and my poor dudes, the 2010s are dire. People wear it on their sleeves (hah). It actually reminds me of the kind of clothes I saw when I lived in Central Europe. And there’s nothing wrong with that! But it doesn’t feel as (*crying eagle*) American as Jake clothes. Or, to be even more on-point, Quark clothes. Quark clothes say–hey, I love money and I hope/expect to get more! My life’s on an upward slide to luxury and riches of all kinds! No one really dresses that way these days. Heck, you don’t even see a lot of the fringe aesthetic subcultures like you used to. Where did the early-2000s style goths go? Where are they??

I don’t give a single crap about food but love going to traditional fine dining restaurants, SO if it’s just going to a cafeteria I would love to go with Odo and rag on the pointless process of ingesting inelegant nutrient sludge, and the pointless process of small-talking over inelegant nutrient sludge. If it’s going to a proper restaurant I would go with Garak so we can act like we’re tremendously fussy and share between us ridiculous quibbles and vague comparisons to hidden events of our pasts and yet somehow eat every single thing that comes out and excitedly schedule the next time we’ll be back. If the chef presents madelines as a gratis closer we’ll flip our sHIT

Because it was messy and weird and full of weirdos, like real life. And they still got to make friends and succeed and find the best in one another and in the world they were working towards.
The reason sometimes it’s hard to love is becauseeeee … some things in it are bad. I felt like I’d expand on that more, but why?! We all know that’s the answer! Because some parts of it are crap. I just ignore those parts as well as I can and try to focus on its core philosophy. for everything else, there’s always the phrase, “thanks i hate it” which will do nicely

It’s “The Wire” although primarily not for the obvious reasons. What? Really!
(Also, my second favorite is the … what’s it called, something The Breach, the one Kor as a senile old Klingon. Really like Rocks & Shoals and Cardassians also. Civil Defense!! Also the one with Weyoun 6. I’m bad at remembering titles. Oh and Magnificent Ferengi owns. Oh crap, can’t forget House of Quark!!)
