In the mythology of the Ojibwe and Abenaki peoples of North America, Jiibayaabooz, also known as Chipiapoos or Mateguas, was a trickster spirit who appears in the form of a rabbit.
Jiibayaabooz was the child of a human mother and a spirit father. Fascinated by the connection of humans to the fundamental force of life, known as manidoog, he taught people the importance of dreams and ways to connect with the manidoog. After his death, he became the Chief of the Underworld.
