OH MY GOSH
My little brother adores DS9 and Star Trek in general and my sisters don’t know what to get him for Christmas (we start getting ready early to make sure things get shipped in time).
So I put it to the Trekkies of tumblr:
GOT ANY GOOD STAR TREK GIFT IDEAS?
Remember, he’s 11 years old so toys are fabulous and adult books are probably a no-go.
EDIT: He also LOVES to build things like Legos, but I can’t seem to find good Star Trek Lego sets (other than the newest Enterprise but it has a lot of set-specific pieces which can’t be used for other things as well).
There are several YA DS9 books (all in paperback or possibly maybe available in ebook format.) Prisoners of Peace is probably the best of those; The Arcade was also entertaining, but the DS9 YA books are relatively weak (tbh, if you want to get him the YA books of any Trek, I’d get the Peter David Worf trilogy: Worf’s First Adventure, Line of Fire, and Survival; the Geordi story Capture the Flag is also a good one.)
Also, signal-boosting in the hopes that anybody else knows of toys/etc. beyond the old action figures.
Still looking for ideas oh Tumblr Trekkies!
(thanks for the signal boost too!)
Yeah my brother has already read some of those books, but I’d have to figure out specifically which ones he has or hasn’t. I did find some interesting things, thought not DS9 related sadly (such as a Star Trek towel which is fun AND useful).
Though I did have a brilliant idea! I told my sister to get some metallic bronze silly putty and label it as “Odo”. My brother will probably LOVE it.
