I think I’ve figured out why I like writing so much.

Yes it’s terrifying and painful and I spend like 90% of my time dreading it and convinced I’ll never come up with anything worth writing down, let alone being able to write it.

But then you get that 10% where everything clicks into place, and that problem you’ve been agonising over for days (convinced this’ll be the thing that stops you writing forever) suddenly has a solution that makes the overall work better for it.

That thrill and satisfaction is enough to stop my anxiety and depression in their tracks - even just for a short time. It makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something.

Even if a new problem will present itself soon, and I’ll be convinced I won’t be able to figure that one out either ;)

My granddad took me to see the Cutty Sark when I was younger. My Grandma took me to get a drink, when we came back we found my grandad standing and queuing. We asked him why and he said the lady in front of him had been looking at something for 15 mins, it must be good so he was waiting for her to finish like a true English gentleman. He wasn't too please when we informed him the woman was not queuing for anything; he had in fact been queuing behind a waxwork woman for 15 minutes!
