Netflix has a show titled ‘The Captains: close-up’. At first glance it’s a Star Trek fans’ dream come true. It features personal and intriguing questions to the actors that many of us have come to know and love.

It is so much more. It articulates beautifully the reason we, the tumblrverse, are so much more than just emotionally heightened fandom blogs.

I still wonder what sort of disaster happened at the DS9 make-up department in the last season, because for no obvious reason Garak looks completely different and it’s uncanny. They change the tone of his skin a little in the earlier seasons too, as the very start it was most of the time actually quite pale, but ugh, season seven does something that makes him look odd.

I don’t know what the actual reason for the change was, maybe there was some make-up technical problem or they wanted to use some new technique, but since I’m a trekkie I need in-universe explanations for everything, and my best quess is that it’s a stress related symptom - like some humans gain/loosen weight, have skin problems etc. when put on prolonged stressful situations, so I just naturally assume that Cardassians have a tendency to have their scales change color and swell as physical effects to psychological problems.
