“As a boy Kepler had been captured by a vision of cosmic splendor, a harmony of the worlds which he sought so tirelessly all his life. Harmony in this world eluded him. His three laws of planetary motion represent, we now know, a real harmony of the worlds, but to Kepler they were only incidental to his quest for a cosmic system based on the Perfect Solids, a system which, it turns out, existed only in his mind. Yet from his work, we have found that scientific laws pervade all of nature, that the same rules apply on Earth as in the skies, that we can find a resonance, a harmony, between the way we think and the way the world works.

When he found that his long cherished beliefs did not agree with the most precise observations, he accepted the uncomfortable facts, he preferred the hard truth to his dearest illusions. That is the heart of science.”

So, I’m brushing my teeth while wearing my super awesome NASA shirt when I suddenly noticed something.

YOU CLEVER BASTARDS.

Seriously, how have I reached the age of 23 without noticing this??

It’s even more obvious in other versions of the Starfleet logo.

I mean, damn.

Please tell me I wasn’t the only one.

What if we are the alternate universe, though. Where we got NASA instead of starfleet. We were a could-have-been.

oh god DAMN it are we the mirror universe? fucking fuck we are

kinri asked:

How do you plan for the NaNoWriMo?

idk if you’re asking about MY personal warplan or just how to plan for NaNo in general but i’ll just talk about my process.

In the words of GRRMartin, I’m a gardener, not an architect. Or a pantser, not a planner. So I don’t actually plan my plot except for a few key scenes and then I wing it.

When I say I’m worldbuilding I mean I map out the setting and stuff. I like doing research (i guess that’s a given at this point) and so on for whatever the story’s about. So this time my research is mainly a) learning the behavior of different wild canines and b) designing a huge city. From the future.

I usually have a file of visual references like images and stuff to look at for inspiration, so it’s a lot of cities this year- I think I’m basing it a lot off of Tehran- and a lot of wild dogs obviously. I also watch a lot of videos/documentaries about the different animals to get a sense of their mannerisms and behaviors. That also helps me get a sense of what I want each character to kind of be like, and gives me ideas for different scenes.

I’m also looking a lot of genetics and sciencey concepts up so I can sound vaguely informed on my futuristic pseudoscience, haha. I have a file of notes. And then as I get all that together some of the plot starts coming to me and I’ll have a loose timetable of events I want to happen.

And of course since I’m working with this huge city I’m trying to figure out how to map it out so I don’t contradict myself… haha yeahhh. I suck at maps.

So yeah, a lot of it is just getting ideas and inspiration from doing research. Anyway, hope that’s what you wanted to know!
