It even goes beyond that, like if I ever eat a raw vegetable for my own health I always get shit like “yeah but the dressing is super bad for you so you canceled it out by eating ranch with it” or “carrots have tons of carbs they’re basically sugar”

And I’m just like for real? I can’t have a baby carrot with ranch? I can’t have some fucking grapes? If the only truly “”“pure”“” food I can eat is raw celery and a daily multivitamin I’d quite honestly and truly rather just be dead.

Just because something has a lot of calories or sugar doesn’t mean it’s bad for you. Veggies and fruits have a ton of vitamins and minerals and fiber and you NEED calories for like…your body to work. So who cares if you smother them in ranch. Just don’t dip a clementine in ranch

Well that depends. Do you mean daddy long legs as in cellar spiders (Pholcidae) or daddy long legs like harvestmen? Same common name but one is a spider and one is not so there are big differences! Also I would need your location to be able to tell you about the species found in your area.

Firstly cellar spiders are not dangerous to people!

There’s an urban myth that cellar spiders (and/or harvestmen) have the deadliest venom in the world but their fangs are too short to bite us. They do have very small fangs, though some are able to bite us enough to cause a mild sting. They do have venom (as most spiders do), but their venom is not potent enough to harm a human. (Harvestmen, on the other hand, have no venom at all.) Cellar spiders have absolutely no reason to bite in most instances and reports of bites are super super rare. I have handled so SO many and have never been bitten. Mostly they want to run away and hide.

They have a really cool defense mechanism where they just shake wildly in their web to scare away predators. You’ll sometimes see this if you approach them when they’re in their web. BUT ALSO they are known to use this as a hunting method. They seek out the webs of other spiders, shake around as if they’re trapped to lure the other spider out, and then attack and eat them. Yum! And yikes!

DID YOU KNOW antimicrobial molecules found in their silk have been found to be helpful in combating antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria like Staph. And that’s just one instance of how these spiders have been helpful in the biomedical field - there are a whole bunch of others, which I recommend reading up on! Very interesting stuff.

As with most fears, the more you learn about them, the less scary they are! I’d recommend doing some reading and also looking up videos of them for exposure until you find them less creepy. There are tons of videos of them doing their defensive “dancing” in their webs!
