My therapist told me similar thing.... So true!

My therapist once told me: what if your mom never changes and goes to her death bed with absolutely no guilt about all the damage she caused? Your healing can’t depend on someone else deciding they also want to heal.

And it’s been the hardest lesson ever tbfh.

Closure isn't something anyone else can give you. It's something you make for yourself.

i wish we were one of those species that you could just refrigerate. Imagine if we meet aliens and they evolved in these lakes that freeze over and their biology was just set up to be able to survive freezing and thawing, and they just take it for granted that you can put someone on ice after an injury while you get them to the hospital. We'd be so envious

you can’t have my brain …

… but I can have your body! I’ll put it in a deep freeze and then thaw it out in the spring!

I am literally the last person who deserves this body, because I don’t deserve anything, but what can I do – I’m all I’ve got.

To my friend Muriel Cadogan whose love and sympathy have never failed me I dedicated this book]

Remembered in the dedication of her autobiography as her “friend” Muriel Cadogan was Freda du Faur’s partner.

A mountaineer, Freda recorded her climbs and some of her time with Muriel in her autobiography. Though, because of the time period, she was not able to be open about her relationship with Muriel she dedicated the book to her and named a peak after her.

Read the autobiography for free online in the Making Queer History Library and learn more about Freda du Faur.
