no, not really!

mammals are the only animal lineage that’s evolved large external ears, but their purposes remain limited to hearing, heat dispersal, and communication.

that’s right, owl ear tufts have ZERO connection to their actual hearing ability! the owls actual ears are around here:

those tufts are just there to communicate the owl’s emotional state to other owls, and to break up their outline so they’re harder to find during the daytime.

when he bought it it was a tiny nervous bitey shivering mass of canine fury, but as bruce & fam cared for it, mandrake (jason named him) became a tiny, calm, friendly mass of canine love that turns to fury when bruce says "VILLAIN NAME HERE"

So I live in a small town and two teenage boys just stopped me because they recognized my dog (I have three dogs, and I usually walk them all together. But they only recognized her specifically)

She’s a dachshund mix and she’s very fat (I’m working on it please don’t come for me) 

Anyway, they recognized her but they didn’t recognize me, and I know this because they told me this. They remembered me from when I walked my dogs in their Halloween costumes and she was dressed as a hotdog

Anyway, teenagers can be so pure sometimes

I should clarify for people, since the lighting does not make this super clear--these are two separate cats, Malice (the black one, who shoulders if she is given constant attention) and Vice (the grey one, who can be held but will fidget constantly.) They’re both not yet two years old, and have a long ways to go before they’re on level with their predecessor, Nimitz, the Terror of the Underbrush, who shouldered so well I could do whole sculpting projects and maintain the use of both hands. Git gud, baby cats.
