It depends- if it’s a fairly minor wound and doesn’t , definitely.
If it caused damage to the urethra (tube that pee and semen come out of) it may need surgical reconstruction to prevent scar tissue from occluding the tube and preventing the flow of urine/semen.
They may also have scar tissue that changes the shape of the penis or the shape of an erection. There may also be parts of it where nerves were damaged and sensation is changed.
If it’s damaged beyond surgical repair, the good thing is that people generally do not actually need a penis to live or even to reproduce, so it can be removed without physical problems for the patient (though there can def be gender and body dysphoria associated with the loss of a penis).
Fortunately, since they’re really just vulnerable flesh tubes that bleed a lot, most of what we know about phalloplasty (surgical dick creation usually used for trans men with bottom dysphoria) comes from the US Military and the surprising number of people who survive dick stabbings/shootings/explosions.

It was to be the first round of the World Series, or the American League Championship, or whatever the fuck it was – it was going to be played on a field somewhere in Cleveland, and it was going to be the first of hundreds of thousands of the damn things ever to be played. After the initial exclamatory burst, I actually find this idea kind of … disconcerting. I’m glad it happens to be true but it’s definitely something I think about with some alarm
