big ups to my most patient housemate who wrangled it up the stairs with me

haven’t even wiped it down yet, came from someone who was a heavy smoker and owned several scotties, this cabinet is in such bad condition (yes the left door is fully falling apart) that i will not feel bad doing something dreadful to it. it’s that horrible old bicentennial colonial maple stain that goes orange over time, except it’s also SUPER dry and kind of matte. would be perfect to refinish bc it’s solid fucking wood but im not taking that down the stairs again. paint or contact paper, maybe?

RIGHT so this was not a sale i found on Craigslist this was a sale i found by driving to another sale. the company who runs this sale employs my… not nemesis, but we definitely went You Again at each other bc she’s a quilter never underprices. anyway got her to throw in the box of accessories they were trying to sell separately in with the machine, we chatted about her latest quilt, and they helped me get it into my car all for sixty bucks as a package deal. honesty a little more than it’s worth but it has been a weird six months of simply not running across a machine that can do buttonholes and this one has a knee pedal (which i prefer to foot pedals) and i think it’s cute. so there. that’s my monthly nonsense-money budget done now

This looks like it’ll be an absolute tank of a setup. Very exciting.

…It might be a Horta. No one said so explicitly.

Also, @petermorwood thinks it has fur around the edges. (But then the Hortas’ Mom was kind of shaggy around the edges too…)

…Who knows. :)

I’m playing Devil’s Advocate on this, because Horta are more blobby and tassely-…

…than sleek and furry, and to my eye this…

image

…definitely looks sleek and furry - so I have to wonder is it actually a Tribble?

image

However with my Devil’s Advocate hat off, I’ll say that ST - The Original Series designs aren’t a reliable source for anything later, with the most obvious difference being what happened to Klingons from ST - The Motion Picture onwards.

@dduane and I can think of numerous reasons why it would be great to see a Horta crewmember, but only time and official confirmation will tell if this really is one, or just someone’s pet Tribble.

(In which case it had better be on a permanent diet, otherwise…)

There is a war at the border

A war is being waged

A fierce fierce war

A war of good and evil

A holy crusade

Of which I will be the spearhead

*pensive* *quiet* *a quiet voice* *in a deep deep voice*

*strongly-worded declaration* *I will give up everything!*

*in a low, raspy voice* *you have to listen to me*

*in an even voice* *no-no* *you have to listen to me*

(the war goes on)

(I am still fighting)

I am the one who started the war

For the love of god

For the love of god
