(I would greatly appreciated feedback about what I've from people who have studied cattle/cattle care. I did spend, like, three hours looking for and going through these articles so I hope they're good. It brings back memories of high school bio where I had to take a side and draw conclusions.)

Okay first

*spends five minutes cackling, falls over laughing*

*wipes tears from eyes* Okay so, am I going to be the next person that gets asks from Scout's haters? Like, this really isn't that bad but am I going to get anons about Scout being evil? *snorts* it's very clear julle know NOTHING about Scout and haven't gone through their blog.

1) 'dairyisntscary isn't a good source for cute videos' Scout has an animal science degree. They know what they're doing and there's nothing wrong with their husbandry.

2) 'this individual supports removing calves from their mothers' lmao. If you read through Scout's blog you'd realise that they keep their cow's calves until they're weaned, at least. Some calves end up permanent members, like Beasley. I'm pretty sure Beasley is,,, Lemon's calf? IDK, I can't remember. Lemon is Beas's sister and Sweet Tea is their mother, thanks @validark for the clarification. They also buy calves for sale and let the new calves nurse off of their current lactating cows (and dairy cows really don't care whether it's their own calf or not, lol)

3) 'which research indicates is harmful' so I actually did go and look at up and I have a helluva lotta thing to say on this, so I'm going to put this right at the end under a cut. In short, the research does actually seem to somewhat support what you say — earlier separation is less stressful, late separation is physically healthier. Late separation possibly provides calves with better coping skills.

4) 'please dont publish this' you could've gone on anon. Anyway, I've removed your name from this

5) 'i don't want that person to attack me' the closest Scout has ever gotten to 'attacking' someone is when julle went and sent anon hate right after two of their precious calves died. Now, sure, some of Scout's follower's might go after you but Scout won't.

6) 'i want you to reconsider posting their content' lol. No. I know Beasley is very stinky and that this is an attack on the world but I don't think Beasley is quite stinky enough to stop reblogging his pictures (*wafts hand in front of face* tho I swear I could smell him from all the way down here)

7) 'i cant provide links because tumblr won't let me' that's never stopped other people before. Even if you can't provide external links, then you could've put the links in a post and sent me the link to that post, considering you weren't even on anon. You don't have to make it a link, you know? URL's work just fine or else the title of the article.

8) under readmore because this is long

The social impact of bottle raising calves is similar to the social impacts, according to some, of raising a child without siblings. Calves grow up without competition or conflict, so they don’t always know their manners. They don’t have a dam teaching them that if they do certain things they’ll anger their peers. That’s what studies mean when they say bottle-raised calves are socially awkward. They learn quickly too

But yeah I support cow-calf separation if it’s done quickly. I’m not sure if this person realizes that ALL my calves are raised on cows, it’s just easier and I think they grow better. A few of my cattle (Flute, DeSoto) are actually orphans whose mothers passed away due to calving complications so they’d be without their bio mother regardless.

I’ve seen dairy cows try and murder their calves the second they hit the ground. I’ve never seen a cow look for her calf or show any signs of thinking about it once it’s out of sight. They don’t care

Happy Trans Awareness Week! We’ll be highlighting different trans and gender diverse people from history throughout the week, looking today at Zuni craftsperson and ambassador, We’wha. Here’s a few facts to get you started:

  • We’wha was a lhamana - a Zuni gender combining masculine and feminine social roles, as well as some unique lhamana roles
  • In 1885, We’wha travelled to Washington DC as an ambassador of Zuni culture, and met US President Grover Cleveland.
  • When US soldiers came to arrest their brother in 1892, We’wha fought them off, bodily throwing an officer out of the house

“Lifesigns” (S02E20, Stardate 49504.3) is the second episode this season to feature The Doctor heavily as he has an emotional crisis. This time he gets to experience love and the highs and lows it brings. Not as high-stakes as the earlier outing, but a quiet examination of what drives a human relationship.

My episode poster had to be The Doctor’s first date. There was no other image that captured the emotion of that story for me.
