I'm not really affected personally regarding the pronoun thing (so if what I'm saying is inappropriate, feel free to ignore) but what I noticed is that whenever a celeb says their pronouns are "she/they" or "he/they", people always only use "they" and even correct anyone who doesn't. And it seems so weird to me because if the person said the other pronouns are okay to use and they identify with them too, then why do you only use that specific one?

i think part of it comes from the fact that some people who use she/they or he/they dont have their they pronouns used often and get extra happy when they are used, or some ppl only put in he or she in non-trans spaces for comfort or something. I’ve also seen people use she/they or he/they as a sort of transitional period, and then switch to using just they them. So i think that experience, which ive seen well documented online in jokes and relatable content, leads people to assume its the same for everyone. That and people are scared to mess up

To any fic writers who worry they are wasting their time... I read a fic for a relatively small and inactive fandom about three years ago. And there was one specific scene where a character watched another dancing like an idiot to a beyonce song and it was so sweet and loving that even now years later I have that song on one of my spotify playlist so every once in a while it will play and remind me of that fic, and every time it does I smile and feel a little happier.

The stats on a fic will never really tell you if your writing touched someone. There's no numerical way to show you what impact you made. Maybe you are wasting time, or maybe you are writing something that someone will remember for a long time, something that will never fail to make them smile.
