I bought raspberries and there's a tiny caterpillar on one of them and it's alive and idk what to do with it :( :(
I don't want to release it encase it's invasive but I don't want to kill it do you guys think I could keep it in a little jar? With the Berry and some foliage? Or something? :(
i was going to either not mention this or pretend i just let it go but i did end up sticking the little guy in a jar with some raspberries and twigs and its doubled in size overnight. super long boy now. maybe he will be okay
There are a TON of bugs that will happily eat raspberries so I definitely can’t ID it or say whether it’s invasive or not without knowing where you live and where the raspberries came from. And also would need a clear photo but it’s pretty tiny so that might be difficult. But it’s perfectly fine to keep it in a jar with some food and wait for it to pupate! May be easier to ID the adult. Just make sure there’s good ventilation and clean the poop out occasionally. :)
