  3. crazy-pages said: As someone who lives on the Rockies, don’t forget the wind. The wind here is frequent and can be intense, making it seem much colder than it is. I’ve been stuck outside in 0F temperatures before and when there’s no wind I was barely bothered. But once (I was 12, not sure what difference that makes) when the wind picked up (30-50mph) and I was stuck outside for an hour I found myself stumbling and my thoughts starting to repeat and play on a loop.

I live near the Rockies and the day I flew home for winter break it was -18F during the day (-30 with windchill). So you could probably make it a lot lower if you need to without it being unrealistic.
