As someone with a chronic illness, I really honestly wish the standard of care I got from my docs was as good as the standard of care my cats and dog get from my vets. (and that’s with me feeling like my care team is doing a good job and not including some of the horrific dealings with doctors who are no longer on my care team!)

being hospitalized after the nurse taking ther discharge vitals noticed her pulse ox was really low. (The lady was not all there and was primarily complaining that her legs were sore after she went to the gym 4 days prior - she didn’t say anything to the doc about her cough/chest pain until he went back in to re-examine her after her shitty vitals.)

From what I know from working in a human ER, this varies a lot from doctor to doctor and their schooling background. Our DOs (Dr. of Osteopathic Medicine) are typically more thorough with their physical exams than our MDs (Medical Doctor). I always tell myself that if I became a doctor I’d do a pretty thorough exam on each patient because I’ve seen a doctor who skipped the basics (heart and lung auscultation) and almost sent someone out the door who had a serious case of pneumonia and ended up..
