See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

It’s true that I am a person given to overly dramatic self-expression, AND I am in pain.

It’s true that I deal with my pain by being quiet about it, AND my pain is real.

It’s true that the way I deal with pain is not congruent with the way I deal with most other inconveniences in my life, AND my pain is real.

Here’s a thought: maybe pain is more than just a minor inconvenience. Maybe it matters more. Maybe that’s why it’s harder to be flip about it.

chronic pain 'and' statements i'm trying to learn from this because i may as well you know?

Maybe you don't have to have a perfect tagging system for the GO content yet, maybe it'll develop and you can always go back and add tags. Not that tumblr would care about them when you try to view the posts of a tag. Not that going back and tagging shit is fun. But... you can't really have all the tags ready before you know what's out there to tag, right? Just as you don't know yet what you're going to look for in the future. Sometimes the archive view helps.

Oh, it’s fine. I live like this too: I accumulate piles and piles of Interesting IRL, and only really refine them once I realize I can’t find my table/bed/floor under all the Interesting.

But ye gods, it’s a lot, eh?

Won’t that only solve 75% of your problems?

The book solves half of your problems, not all of them

Say you have 8 problems. You read the book, and you have 4 problems. You read the book again gets rid of HALF, of those 4 problems. So you’re left with two. Out of the 8 problems, 6 were resolved and 6/8 is 75%.

Finally Tumblr can do math

literallyscreamingatthevoid

So, what you’re saying, is that if I buy infinite books, I will solve all of my problems, because the sum as n approaches infinity starting at 1 of (½)^n equals 1, which would be 100% of my problems.

queermista

No, you will only ever be able to become infinitely close to solving all of your problems, like this:

that’s why radioactive material is such a bitch! it only ever deteriorates relative to its mass so it will never completely vanish

You mentioned that you and Terry Pratchett each had a different idea for how Aziraphale looked. Is Michael Sheen's version more like Terry's, yours, or maybe something in the middle (or completely new)? Absolutely loved the show by the way!

neil-gaiman answered:

Terry’s was more like Brian Dennehy, mine was more like Michael Palin. We compromised on the late Peter Sellers playing both Crowley and Aziraphale. Michael Sheen is his own man. Or in this case, his own angel.

Whenever i tell someone im asexual, they say that its a condition and i should go to a doctor to get pills for it. Have you encountered attitudes like that in the medical circles? What is a good response i can shut them up with?

macgyvermedical answered:

I have encountered attitudes like this in the medical world, but the sentiment is invariably based on personal stigma, not the most recent scientific/medical  understanding of asexuality.

A lot of medical professionals (and, really, a lot of people in general) who are not in the community tend to equate asexuality with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), and I think this is where a lot of the confusion comes from.

Asexuality is a sexual orientation and is officially defined as a lack of sexual attraction. It’s someone saying “I have no (or less than average) sexual attraction to other people, this is fine with me because my sexual and intimacy needs (if any) are (or can be) still adequately met.”

HSDD, meanwhile, is a disorder characterized by personal distress related to lack of sexual desire- it’s someone going “I have no desire for sex but still need it, which leaves my sexual/intimacy needs unmet and causes me distress.”

Note that they’re two completely different things- one is a neutral identity like being gay (and while there may be external stressors like bullying, the identity itself does not cause distress), while the other is a disorder that causes real distress in itself and can be treated with therapy and/or medications that increase libido.

Ironically, I am on one of the main combination of medications used to treat HSDD (testosterone and buspirone) for different reasons, and they haven’t impacted my asexual identity one bit- because no medications can change one’s sexual orientation.

if you are not distressed there's nothing wrong with you
