What if rather than an AU, Bashir had a Good Omens holosuite program? Bashir wants Garak to play as Crowley but Garak objects as to what Julian is implying by this.

I’d enjoy the two of them picking the book apart as well. Garak doesn’t care for the humour but rather likes the message, although he doesn’t understand why it takes so many pages to state the obvious: God doesn’t exist, the whole thing’s a joke, Humans are ridiculous to believe it and should instead focus on improving the lot of other Humans and functioning as a single Union for the good of all.

Julian rubs his eyes. “I’m not quite sure that’s the message.”

“Well, what else could it possibly be?”

Hello Neil, a question (or maybe a couple) - how did Hell contact Crowley before using technology to abruptly drop in? How did music left in the Bentley behave before Queen existed as a band? Also, an obligatory thank you for the wonderful series that you and the team gave us, it's a beautiful homage to what you wrote together and Terry would be proud!

I think questions like that are what fan fiction was made for.

Now that this has had a chance to percolate, I think they used animals.

I think any random frog, fox, rabbit, or dog, at any random time, might stagger drunkenly up to Crowley (because Hastur has trouble driving a remotely-possessed creature), open its mouth, and Hastur’s voice would just come out of it like those creatures in Phantoms.  Once humans invented voice-transmitting technology, Hastur was completely relieved, because he’s always been an awful driver, and the more legs a thing has, the less he can manage it.

The best part is the contrast between how Az manifests miracles and how Crowley does. They both snap, but Az has this exaggerated thing that at first glance looks like he’s just pulling on a light bulb chain, which you think is great because he’s calling light so of course he’d act like he’s turning on a bulb. But at the manor when Az tells Mary she will remember having had a lovely dream when she wakes up, he does the same pulling motion. I think he’s doing it because in his mind he is calling power from Heaven — the source of miracles — and so he is reaching “up” to gather the power and then releasing it. Compare that to Crowley who seems to just take it as a given that HE is the source of the power, they’re HIS demonic miracles, so he just summons it however he likes — upward snaps, lazy sideways snaps, I swear he does finger guns when he makes all the paintball rifles real. Crowley has long since come to the realization that his power is his own and not beholden to Hell, while Az (with his still-unbroken faith in Heaven) just hasn’t gotten there yet.

I've been enjoying reading your responses to fans and BTS info about the Good Omens show, however I am waiting to watch it until after I've finished re-reading the book. There is a chance that by the time I get round to it, the series will be out on DVD. You've mentioned that there were scenes in the script that weren't shot, and I guess as these things tend to go, scenes were shot that were eventually cut. Do you know if such scenes will be included on the discs? Will you be doing a commentary?

neil-gaiman answered:

I don’t know. Nobody’s approached me about doing a commentary or deleted scenes or anything so far.
